Project Goals

Our goal was to help Goodwill of the Great Plains bring its vision for a sustainable, community-focused Mission Services Center to life. By providing fully integrated mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology solutions, TSG worked alongside the project team to deliver a high-performance net-zero facility designed to support workforce development, educational programs, and community engagement while maximizing long-term efficiency, reliability, and operational performance.

The Goodwill of the Great Plains Mission Services Center demonstrates how thoughtful collaboration and integrated building systems can create lasting community impact. Thompson Solutions Group was selected as the project’s MEP and technology partner, delivering mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and technology infrastructure for a 25,000-square-foot net-zero facility in Sioux City, Iowa. The facility supports workforce development programs, community engagement initiatives, educational opportunities, and support services that help individuals throughout the Siouxland region achieve greater independence and success.

To support the owner’s ambitious sustainability goals, TSG coordinated geothermal heating and cooling systems, electrical infrastructure for rooftop solar generation, energy monitoring systems, building controls, technology infrastructure, and high-efficiency power distribution systems. Through BIM coordination, prefabrication, and close collaboration with Goodwill, CMBA Architects, Engineering Design Associates, and W.A. Klinger, our teams delivered a fully integrated solution where every system works together to maximize performance and long-term reliability.

The result is one of the Siouxland region’s most innovative community facilities, providing a welcoming environment for learning, workforce training, recreation, and community programs while demonstrating the possibilities of sustainable building design. This project showcases TSG’s ability to deliver complex, multidisciplinary solutions that improve efficiency, advance sustainability goals, and create meaningful value for both clients and the communities they serve.
